A Quick Word from the Bible #9: Priorities
May 29th, 2009 | by JasonI have no words.
I’ve been actually so caught up with putting together the new webcomic, Rupert & Me, debuting this coming Monday (Plug, plug) I forgot all about this column.
Oops.
I like to be ahead on things and I hate it when I leave the columns to be written at the last minute. But, here I am, at the last minute, trying to put together a column for A Quick Word from the Bible and I have no idea what to talk about.
In other words, I have no words.
I haven’t been paying attention to anything this past week. The webcomic has consumed me completely, even to the point of losing sleep over whether or not it would be funny to make Obama jokes.
So, the only thing I’m aware of happening this week is that it came out that Mel Gibson and his new girlfriend are already pregnant and he’s not quite divorced from his wife. That didn’t really seem like something suited for this column. Although, I supposed I could do something on a marriage and vows and not being a cheating man-whore. But I don’t really care. ↓ Read the rest of this entry…
A Word From The Bible #6: Still Praying
May 8th, 2009 | by JasonTurns out the phrase “I’ll pray for you” is considered offensive by some..
Huh. Who would have thought? Certainly not I.
I mean, “I’ll pray for you.” People find that offensive? Wow. Look, I’m not a sheltered man, I’ve watched my share of R rated movies and read a fair amount of R rated books. I know a thing or two about offensive. Quentin Tarantino is offensive. Kevin Smith is offensive. But saying “I’ll pray for you” that is so far removed from being offensive, it’s not even funny.
A Quick Word From the Bible #5: Praying for You
May 1st, 2009 | by JasonIt’s funny. Last week I was feeling all lost and slightly depressed over the fact that I had nothing to really contribute for my Friday columns.
Well, that was last week. Since then, my eyes have been opened up a bit.
Much is made of Christianity and how people who subscribe to religion are weak minded followers who can’t think for themselves.. The people that say these things also tend to categorize faith as something else, something not connected with God or any form of religion. These same people go around preaching that religious types need to learn to be more tolerant of the non religious types, even while chastising and criticizing us for believing in something other than ourselves.
So, I have a few things I want to say.
A Quick Word From the Bible #4: What to Write About?
April 24th, 2009 | by JasonThis is, by far, the hardest column to write. I don’t mean today’s column, I mean A Quick Word From The Bible as a whole.
When I originally envisioned the revamp of the website I came up with some specific things I wanted to have and accomplish. You see, what I wanted was a location that had a little bit of everything that I was. Does that make sense?
I enjoy writing, talking, story telling, sharing my opinions, and making people laugh. In addition to all that I do believe in God and I am a born again Christian. It is an aspect of who I am and an aspect I wanted to share.
All that being said, this is a really hard column to write.
